Just tried mine with safari and its fine. Im scratching my head here. Im thinking its got to be a CSS (style sheet) thing but the browser handles those. huh.

Theres a way to fix this in firefox if you download the "web developer extension". I dont know how much you want to get into it though. If you want it, you can find it here: http://chrispederick.com/work/web-developer/

After you install it, you will find a menu (2 actually) under the firefox tab. Click the menu that says "web developer extension" and youll see a sub-menu for CSS. Then click "edit css". When the pane pops up, look for this bit of code:

{text-decoration:line-through}

and delete it. I have a strong suspicion that will work for you.

on edit: try what make7 said in post #9 first. Trash a thread by clicking the little box with the x in it at the end of the thread title.

Try going to his thread and trashing it...

... then reload the Greatest page and see if the strike-through text is gone.

Basically someone made a typo in a reply that inadverantly put an HTML tag in their title causing weirdness and NYC_SKP make a joke thread in the lounge by copying that typo - but later edited it to something different. What he changed it to could possibly, maybe cause strike-through text - that's why I suggested trashing that thread in particular.

(Sorry NYC_SKP, I have never trashed a thread before, nothing against you.)

Trashing a thread disappears it from the forum listings (and Latest and Greatest).

You may be seeing a cached version of the Greatest page when the lines reappear. (Caching just means your browser stores webpage information on your computer so it doesn't have to download the same information over and over from the internet to view a page you already visited.)

[hr]
My post before my edit:

The strike-through text has to start somewhere.

It looks like the columns are displayed in the following order:

  • rightmost 'Greatest Threads (sorted by recs)';
  • then center 'Greatest Threads (sorted by time)';
  • followed by the left hand forum navigation menu ('Main', 'My Subscriptions', etc.)
If the strike-through text is at the top of the center column, 'Greatest Threads (sorted by time)', then search down the right hand column, 'Greatest Threads (sorted by recs)', until you see the strike-through text. What line does it start at, and what letter within that line?

So you may have it right that a cached page showed up. I didn't notice any lines through posts on the right side, sorted ty recs. But did notice the right side was longer than the left and wondered about that.
