Tim Tebow cut by Patriots, plans to keep playing

Tim Tebow hasn't given up hope of playing in the NFL after being cut by the New England Patriots.

"I will remain in relentless pursuit of continuing my lifelong dream of being an NFL quarterback," he tweeted Saturday.

He has now been let go by his third team in 18 months. With the regular season just five days away, his chances of immediately catching on with another team seem slim.

Tebow thanked owner Robert Kraft, coach Bill Belichick and offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels after failing to survive New England's mandatory roster cut to 53 players. He also thanked the "entire Patriots organization for giving me the opportunity to be a part of such a classy organization."

Timmy's not having much luck keeping a job these days.

They're passing leagues...and if there's one thing Tebow isn't, its a passer. Unless he's willing to play FB or TE, I think his football career is done. He should get a job as a college team assistant, he might be very good at that.

because I think he's basically a good person and a nice guy who means well and all of that (and he also has the sense of humor to join Jimmy Fallon on stage when he was pretending to be Tebow "Tebowing" to "show" him how to do it "right&quot , but he SUCKS as an actual player and does not have the professional talent, skill and chops to be a professional player. Period. Being religious does not mean that you should be able to have whatever job you want regardless of your abilities (or lack of them, in his case).

I'm sure his fans are going to spin this as yet another "war" on "religious" (meaning THEIR religion) values and Christianity, which is laughable as far as the NFL is concerned considering the large numbers of those who call themselves Christians among players and coaches and staff. They can't or won't see that it has nothing to do with that, it is his lack of necessary talent and skill that is the real problem. There is plenty of good he could do if he could find his true skills and abilities and utilize them accordingly instead of chasing a pipe dream.

The year he took over as quarterback was one of the best non-Superbowl seasons ever. It was an exciting year for Bronco fans. When they beat Pittsburgh in the playoffs, only to be slaughtered by the World Champion Patriots, in the next game.

The fans would know better than to expect too much from him. But if the opportunity arises, he can be good for that one moment...

Doesn't mean I can't admire the way he has handled adversity. He has remained a class act. He wouldn't have enjoyed the number of opportunities given, if not for his positive attitude.

At the end of the day, he isn't good enough to be a NFL quarterback.

The deal with the eye shadow Bible verses unfortunately tainted a lot of people's opinions about him -- I'm sure his missionary parents told him it was his unique opportunity to share his witness to the world.

On a side note, I wonder whether there is any movement to bring pro football to China. That would be an interesting development.
