The neo-Confederates would be traitorous to side with our enemies. I wouldn't put it past the rebels, er, Tea Party, to seek NBC weapons from Kim Jung Un.

The United States would not need much help putting down the rebellion.

Some help to come from outside. That would be basic human nature if you can't fight back with effects yourself.
