I don't care how he saves face...backing away from a Syrian strike is good.

"Obama Says U.S. Should Take Action In Syria, Will Seek Congress' Authorization For Use Of Force "

That's not backing down, it's following the law.

Bush had a family that knows how to hide criminals. If Obama breaks the law, the same people protecting Bush will take him down.

Backing down is saying that he does not believe America should be leading a solo charge to war.

I wish he was backing down.

And was calling for immediate attack....the ships and amphibious forces already in position. I don't know if it was British rejection, public pressure, or better advice from advisors...but it appears hes stepping back from a impulsive course of action. Thats a good sign. I don't care if he has to save face by saying hes required to seek Congressional approval.

I only wish he had said this before the "red-line" stuff..

It's high-time that the war powers went back to congress.. I don't want ONE person deciding..

I WANT the mealymouthed congresspeople/senators having to go on the record.

When a president makes the choice, he/she opens up to constant criticism and much caterwauling , and provides "cover" for the people in congress..

Put them on the record..make them do their jobs.
