Do you think if Congress votes no, and President Obama decides to go for whatever reason, will he be impeached?

under my poll scenario Congress didn't forbid....under your scenario I would be tempted to go after him for impeachment. Wasn't one of the articles on Nixon about this very scenario. Didn't Congress back then tell him not to go war in Cambodia and he did anyway?

I am just dying to know from a political standpoint, where are the swing district Congressman on this. This has all the trademarks of either a massive reward for those who show political will, and the weak will get crushed.

The three articles passed by the Judiciary committee involved covering up illegal activities, slush funds etc; abuse of power for using government agencies against political enemies (IRS, FBI, Secret Service etc); and failure to respond to lawful subpoenas in the investigations.

Nothing on Cambodia, more's the pity.

McCain, Graham Say Obama’s Syria Plan Falls Short

August 31 2013.

WASHINGTON–Two key Republican Senate lawmakers gave notice that despite President Barack Obama‘s pledge to seek congressional authorization for a potential military strike against Syria, they wouldn’t support a limited attack that fell short of changing the momentum on the battlefield.

The statement by Sens. John McCain (R., Ariz.) and Lindsey Graham (R., S.C.) demonstrates clearly the challenges the president faces in winning congressional authorization for his plans to punish the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad for allegedly using chemical weapons in an attack last week.

“We cannot in good conscience support isolated military strikes in Syria that are not part of an overall strategy that can change the momentum on the battlefield, achieve the president’s stated goal of Assad’s removal from power, and bring an end to this conflict, which is a growing threat to our national security interests,” the senators said in a joint statement.

Strike against Assad is indirectly helping AQ. I would be damn surprised if Republicans don't use it to start impeachment.
