Is Congress derelict in their duties by not returning to vote on Syria?

There are presently over 200 Tomahawk Cruise missiles programed with targets and ready to launch within minutes of receiving the go order. Standing at this level of readiness comes at a high price to both tax payers and military personnel and their families. But yeah, Congress, you go ahead and enjoy your extended holiday weekend until September 9th. It's not like anyone thinks you could actually make a decision anyway, so you might as well just be utterly derelict in your duties. Maybe if you're really lucky, the Syrian government will do something horrifying beyond measure and you won't need to make a decision anymore. Everyone needs to turn out to vote in 2014 and throw the bums out!!

I think I'd rather see them all at home in either their districts or their states than back in Washington where the people's voice seems to find itself muted.

Like eggs, they have a long shelf life but sooner or later you gotta make a big omelet, right?

What is the big rush? We don't even know what these strikes will accomplish, if anything. I think it is more a PR stunt than anything at this point since the President drew his red line, he has to do something.

So you are saying we need to replace the current bums with some that will rush back to quickly authorize war? That doesn't sound like a good swap.

Those Navy ships were out there working their regular deployments anyway, slicing through the water costs the same whether they are waiting to fire cruise missiles or not, it's not like try are making overtime or anything.

The Repubbies are out and about in their Brooks Brothers Leisure Suits, wanking in the hinterlands, buttering up their fatcat cronies, and once again going AWOL from responsibility.
