(777 posts)he is consulting with them , as any statesman would do would do , with experienced men . I really get disgusted with all these folks just getting down on our president He has a very tough job . Nothing wrong about hearing from different points of view , and then making a decision , instead of shooting first , and then making excuses for your actions .

(111,110 posts)They didn't have many kind words for the President, even though McCain said it would be 'catastrophic" if Congress did not vote with the President's request.

in fact, it helps cover up that they're representing the same interests
people were KILLED in the elections of Gilded-Age Buenos Aires, Chicago, and NYC--and it definitely wasn't because they were so ideologically divergent

(36,926 posts)Are they not all trying to convince Congress and even the world that bombing Syria is the correct thing to do?

(1,330 posts)Why wouldn't that be just as pathetic, if that's your standard for judging people? But then you've chosen to align yourself with Rand Paul, so I guess you think Rand is OK.

(111,110 posts)It is the President's job to "execute" the military strategy if he decides that he must. It is not the responsibility of the Senate or the House to execute the war once it begins. It is the responsibility of the President.

If you thought we got the "fix the Middle East with bombing" shit out of our system by electing a Democrat, you thought wrong.

(39,343 posts)Is "because Israel and Saudi Arabia want to bomb Syria" an American interest?
Please don't give me the shit that we care about a few hundred dead kids from chemical attack. Did you see how many people we killed in Iraq, Af/Pak, Yemen....?
We don't care about a few dead kids.

(39,909 posts)I DO know that these same people tell me that we can't afford Meals-On-Wheels or Head Start or Social Security.
I DO know that Syria has not attacked us,
can NOT attack us,
hasn't threatened us,
and hasn't attacked anyone else for over 30 years.
So exactly WHAT are these "American Interests"?
Inquiring minds want to know.

(24,689 posts)McCain and Graham want regime change. Obama is pushing for a limited punitive strike.
MoonRiver
(36,926 posts)They are aligned to promote attacking Syria, Obama in a limited way, Mc&G something more. Still an alignment.
DCBob
(24,689 posts)it implies Obama is changing his position to be more in line with Mc&G. That is not accurate.

(1,820 posts)The course of action Obama wants will kill Americans, either here or there, but it will kill them.
Whether he's aware of it or not, whether he wants it or not, the attack on Syria plays right into the hands of Al-Nusra. They will celebrate the day it happens.
