when her name was called--that she would vote yes to conviction yesterday. She is clearly having some difficult moments.

But, she has had a long laudable career and has been through so much, starting with the assassination of Mayor Moscone and SF Supervisor Harvey Milk.

I fight ageism with a passion, but if, as I suspect, she's having some "difficulties," I just want her to go out on top.

She voted "present" during the Kavanaugh vote, which was really kind of a weasel.

But it is clear that she has just about had it with her own party.

She must be in a lot of emotional pain right now. She grew up in the Republican Party, her father was a Senator and a Governor (a corrupt one, but that is another story). Leaving a political party can be as difficult as changing your religion. I have some empathy for her.

She is up for reelection in 2022. Her vote yesterday took a great deal of political courage and demonstrated that honoring her moral center was more important that being a member of the tribe.
