MS HUNTERS CAPTURE THIS 700-POUND ALLIGATOR THE HEAVIEST IN STATE
Hunters have landed themselves in the state record books after capturing a massive, 697.5 lb. alligator in Mississippi. The horrifying creature, which was more than 13 feet in length, is seven pounds heavier than the states previous record-holder (which weighed in at 690.5 lbs.).
Tom Grant, a resident of Boyle, apprehended the alligator along with fellow hunters Jim Reed, Michael Robbers and Kenny Winter. After making the catch, Grant described the successful process in detail.

(60,010 posts)Usually a very short season of a week, with an incredible long list of rules and regulations dictating how the gator is to be hunted, captured and dispatched.
In the South, the alligator is a protected by Federal law, but no longer on the Endangered Species List.
Having said all that, I am not a fervent supporter of hunting
but
givent that so many people are, I think it is a good thing to have such a limited season and so many restrictions.
