(13,305 posts)I remember when someone made the same joke and asked if Obama invited any single payer/medicare for all advocates to the healthcare reform briefings.
A classic. Never gets old.

(8,377 posts)I listened to McCain's comments about the meeting. He says Obama has agreed to do more than what Obama had previously described as tactical punishment.
How predictable is this?

Very predictable.
Then the draft
Then we have no money for Medicare
Then SS is bankrupt
All in the plan.
I'd love to get the hell out of this country if I knew somewhere America wouldn't start a war!!!

(47,953 posts)They may make it so that the only jobs are in the military, but they won't put in a draft, because that would actually mobilize an effective anti-war movement.

(8,377 posts)There is still some money in nutrition for children, pre-school education, Medicare, and Social Security.
No need for the draft when all that other money is sitting right there.

(8,377 posts)God help us if a couple Americans die in the course of making this initial attack because then the war profiteers will be all about avenging the deaths of those "brave American servicemen who paid the ultimate price for our cherished freedoms." All for a tidy profit.

Given that Iran now exerts de facto control over large swaths of Iraq and may be able to incite uprisiings, should the need arise, in the southern oil fields of Saudi Arabia, I don't think the imperial project is going to be the slam-dunk, cakewalk the imperialists imagined it to be.

(16,851 posts)That's why we've been invading all these countries. The Iraq War (II) wasn't only about oil and making money. Iraq borders on Iran, and we needed to build a base there. That's why Bush was so determined to invade Iraq and why Obama is so hellbent on invading Syria. Notice I said "invading" Syria. There is no way we're going to simply strike Syria and then turn around and come home.
