McCain Bemoans GOP Primaries: 'This Is Like Watching A Greek Tragedy'

McCain Bemoans GOP Primaries: 'This Is Like Watching A Greek Tragedy'

The Boston Herald reports:

Former GOP presidential candidate John McCain said yesterday he fears Republicans will be stuck with a bloodied nominee so sapped by months of campaign attacks that he can’t beat President Obama — even as the party’s four combatants prepare to do battle again today in Michigan and Arizona.

“This is like watching a Greek tragedy,” McCain told the Herald. “It’s the negative campaigning and the increasingly personal attacks ... it should have stopped long ago. Any utility from the debates has been exhausted, and now it’s just exchanging cheap shots and personal shots followed by super PAC attacks.”

all of Karl Rove's election plans. When you are representing a party that stands FOR nothing it is difficult.

never thought the Republicans would use their standard techniques against Democrats against other Republicans. This is mind boggling as HE was attacked by the Rove/Bush minions.

is a hypocrite. The only reason he's upset is because the primary is taking a serious toll on the candidate he endorsed: Romney.

As nasty as the primary is, Romney also can't keep his foot out of his mouth. It's one weird statement after another, and the images (laundry, Ford Field) don't help either.

He even put out an ad about growing up in Michigan that featured a New York photo.

And 99% of them dealt with a character's downfall from hubris - once again something that will go over their heads.
