Last edited Wed Sep 11, 2013, 12:46 AM - Edit history (10)

These are the Democratic State Senators who were victims of an NRA-funded recall campaign.

Sen. Morse's district:

• Morse has conceded; 100% reporting, 50.9%-49.1% in favor of the recall (9,094-8,751).

Sen. Giron's district:

• AP's calling it; 100% reporting, 56%-44% in favor of the recall (19,355-15,201.

Most Springers are pieces of shit from what I remember in 1968. They treated vet like scum and only wanted the money. I have never liked the place. If it fell off the map it would be no loss.

Most of it was for the incumbents who far out raised the recall proponents.

Colorado's first-ever recall elections of state lawmakers have amassed about $3.5 million from donors both near and far, with those vying to defend the incumbents up for election Tuesday significantly outraising the opposition.

A Denver Post review of finance reports from the 10 active issue committees involved in the recalls of Senate President John Morse of Colorado Springs and Sen. Angela Giron of Pueblo found some donors contributing as little as $1 to as much as six figures.

The committees accepted unrestricted amounts of cash from thousands of individuals and dozens of nonprofit 501(c)(4)s, which do not have to disclose donors, according to the Colorado secretary of state.

Proponents of the recall have raised about $540,000, while opponents have collected nearly $3 million. Much of the cash has come from out of state — a sign of the national significance these recalls have.

Alaska is looking at legalizing MJ and tons of people have and use guns (kind of need them out in the wilderness and such, even for fishing).

El Paso county voted against it (narrowly), and the Colorado Springs City Council has voted against allowing retail sales.

I think a majority in this city would vote for any recall regardless of the issue (and without even knowing what the issue was).

Though you won't find parallel voting numbers, there is a large bloc of voters -- not just in Colorado -- who share what is called now a "libertarian" outlook on some social issues. Alaska & Vermont & perhaps New Mexico come to mind.. Pot-smokin' and gun-totin'.

The people that supported the Aurora theater shootings and the Columbine School shooting have won this election. They won nothing. No laws change. The majority stays the same. The taxpayers are out a bunch of money and they got their pound of flesh....again.

which more than all the money motivated folks to take on a grinding uphill recall battle against incumbents and win.

For all the radical glamour of recalls & referenda, they are the toughest of elections to pull off.
