1 year after Benghazi, US Foreign Service honors fallen colleagues

I just got back from a memorial ceremony at the Consulate for Ambassador Stevens, which included the unveiling of a copy of the memorial plaque that's kept in the State Department. The names of every American Foreign Service Officer killed in the line of duty are inscribed, from William Palfrey (lost at sea, 1780 -- an envoy from the Continental Congress) to Anne T. Smedinghoff (killed in an attack in Afghanistan, 2013).

The full list (244 names) is kept online here.
