Hey, guys -- I'm starting to think we overreacted to the terrorism thing.
It hit me last year as I was standing in the naked airport scanner again, listening to the faint gasps and then applause from the monitoring booth, and realized that I wouldn't put up with that hassle to ward off the threat of, say, lightning. You know, like if scientists had figured out that you could reduce the already miniscule chance of being struck by merely standing outside and showing God your dick.
Anyway, that made me look back at the lessons we've learned in the 12 years since the 9/11 attacks, and I've got to say, it's not encouraging. For instance, we found out that ...

always have the best shit which is the best thought out? I mean, whenever anyone in my life starts talking about guns, I pull out their 5 things to know about guns list HERE.
Everything the author wrote is true. Yup, the terrorists won. That's why I need a bunch of ID documents to open a checking account. That's why the feds are tracking my phone calls. That's why about a million people are dead worldwide (coincidentally, I have far less of a problem with drone strikes on terrorist camps where the "bad guys" use their kids as shields, than invading some shithole half a planet away... because in GOPLand, invasions killing hundreds of thousands are good, but drones targeting only a handful of people are evil). Terrorism is the reason why when ANYTHING bad happens, we're to blame it and anyone with brownish skin first, before realizing it was a crazy-ass cracker who shot up that school. Terrorism is why, as a resident of western New York, I needed to spend $110 on a passport to go see Niagara Falls properly, and I need to show my papers to go see "Phantom of the Opera" at Princess of Wales Theatre.
I've thought for more than 10 years now that the terrorists won. I'm glad someone else noticed.
