12 years ago, my youngest was still in grade school -

now she's a college graduate. Effectively, almost as long as she can remember, we've been at war.

It's become the new normal.

The year before she was born, Germany was reunified, the Cold War was over and we were at "the end of history". WE were looking forward to a peace dividend.

Methinks that there are forces in the US more interested in keeping the American People afraid than the most radical terrorist!

I was born into the Korean War itself, in 1950, and came of age during the Vietnam War (1961-73). Here are some of the military actions/interventions that have taken place since then. They cover every period of my life. The new normal has been normal for at least 60 years.

1980: Iran Hostage Rescue attempt

1982-84: Beirut

1983: Grenada invasion

1986: Raid on Tripoli, Libya

1989: Invasion of Panama

1990-91: Persian Gulf War

1992-93: Somalia

1994: Invasion of Haiti

1995: Bosnia (Operation Deliberate Force)

1999: Serbia/Kosovo (Operation Allied Force)

2001-: Afghanistan

2003-2008: Iraq

Okay, you know the rest from there: Libya, etc.
