Students at Southeastern High School might not remember the details of the terrorists attack on the United States 12 years ago, but they should never forget how that day continues to affect them and their futures.

That was the message Wednesday from a former aide to George W. Bush who was with the president on Sept. 11, 2001, when the attacks occurred.

Only five students out of about two-dozen in teacher Nick Olson’s social studies class raised their hands today when former U.S. Department of Education Chief of Staff Terry Abbott asked them who remembered the events of Sept. 11.
