Howard Dean on Obama's Syria Speech

"We’re done here,” Dean said on MSNBC shortly after President Obama made an address to the nation. “Putin has now said ‘Assad is not going to use these and I’ll make sure that he doesn’t.’ He’s on the hook, whether you get an agreement at the United Nations is irrelevant.”

“We’re done with this, unless Assad does this another time,” he said. “Then I think the president is going to go in and he’s not going to stop at Congress first. He’s just going to go in. I think Assad knows it, Putin knows it. This is over. It doesn’t matter what the negotiations are because Vladimir Putin now is on the line for making sure Assad doesn’t use chemical weapons and I think the president’s accomplished his goal. He’s going to stop the use of chemical weapons.”

The former governor of Vermont also said he thought Obama gave an effective address to the nation, and that it was clear that he is “in tune” with the American people.

““I thought he did a great job because the first two-thirds lays out, as you all have said, clearly what the case was,” Dean said. “And then he says ‘But, we don’t have to do these things right now.’ I thought it was great. And you can argue about putting the speech together and all that stuff but the American people are going to see that this president is in tune with them and that’s important.”

The discourse is such a swamp of fucking stupid that people of good sense can barely stand to wade into it.

The memes are too similar to be a coincidence. Don't trust the federal government, and never give an inch seems to be the new anthem.

I'm happy Dean isn't trying to get in on the Whine and Cheeze Gravy Train with so many others who don't have a freaking clue what's going on.

and to do that, he's got to be the good little Party Boy. Disappointing in that, when he first started out, he actually had scruples and the willingness to engage in independent thought. He's selling his soul for the misguided belief that the Establishment Democrats will somehow support him. They won't, of course, as they already have their candidate. His supporters of 2004 will NEVER go along with this new Establishment Dem pro-war Dean. He's being advised badly in this.

I think if there is no agreement Russia is going to simply blame the US. Then Putin will call his PR firm and do another op-ed. Putin has already shown with the anti-gay laws right before the Olympics how slimy he is. He keeps insisting no one will be arrested or detained. I'll believe it when I see it.

I wanted to add it's not whether I like Dean or not (I actually am pretty neutral on my feelings toward him).

Just now I caught this over in the toon thread and it speaks volumes to what I'm saying:
