Video interview with the family can be found here: http://www.wtvm.com/story/23394818/family-dog-sniffs-out-baby-abuser-hidden-tape-leads-to-confession

Alexis Khan, a South Carolina woman who had been hired to care for Benjamin and Hope Jordan's seven month old son, has been sentenced to one to three years in prison after pleading guilty to abuse charges. The family dog is credited with alerting his family that something was wrong with their babysitter:

"About five months into her being our baby sitter, we started to notice that our dog was very defensive of our son when she would come in the door," Jordan said. "He was very aggressive towards her and a few times we actually had to physically restrain our dog from going towards her.'

The now suspicious parents had a plan.

Hope suggested they place an I-phone under the couch and let the phone record what happens while they were at work.

I believe that dogs are a gift of love to humans from God. There is no other animal to compare them to.

"It started with cussing," Jordan said. "Then you hear slap noises and his crying changes from a distress cry to a pain cry. I just wanted to reach through the audio tape, go back in time and just grab him up."

The dog isn't the animal in this story.

video (I had to put my hearing aids in and turn them on high before I could hear it, but I did manage to do so). The kid crying in pain and her screaming "shut up, shut the fuck up, just shut up" made ME want to reach through the phone and grab the kid and he isn't even mine. The only thing I hate as much as child abuse is war and war profiteering. I will NEVER EVER understand people who treat children like this, especially that age. NEVER.

And I'm glad the parents got suspicious of the sitter and not the dog, not everyone would have thought that or picked up on it and some would have gotten rid of the dog instead.

I've always had dogs (as well as cats) all my life and the old saying to "never trust anyone your dog doesn't like" is very, very true. And I remember how protective our huge husky was of my tiny son when he was born and how he continued that protection until he was hit by a car when my son was six years old.

dog's reaction to people. I've had dogs all my life and on the few occasions when one of them had an unusual or very negative reaction to a person, they turned out to be right.
