It is reported that the average increase for Californians will be 8% to 14%. Guess I'm not an average Californian, because my increase is more than double that high figure.

The proposed premium hikes for hundreds of thousands of California consumers with individual coverage would outpace the cost of overall medical care, which has risen just 3.6% in the last year.

(6,335 posts)Before this latest increase, the premium is just about what they wanted back in 2010. They just quietly raised it a little at a time. Now, they're going back in for the kill.

(4,220 posts)It was 196.00 a month as recently as 2009, not to mention they raised my deductible from 3500.00 to 4200.00 in 2011...
And I have not used the insurance at all since 20010
Please excuse my words but: fuck these fuckers, double the price and a higher deductible, fuck them!!!

(6,335 posts)I don't know how many people can deal with these fucking outrageous increases. It's not like your job gives you a 30% raise every year.

(1 post)Our letter from Anthem states a 29% increase. Three years ago our premiums were $256. They will now be $691 = a 270% increase. We receive NO benefits until we pay out $8,200 ourselves (a deductible that has also continuously increased).
