Federal Judge who sent racist joke about Obama: “not intended by me in any way to become public.”

Federal Judge Sent Joke Email Implying Obama’s Mother Had Sex With Dog

Ryan J. Reilly

Montana Chief U.S. District Judge Richard Cebull, a George W. Bush nominee, admitted on Wednesday that he forwarded a racially-charged email implying that President Barack Obama might have been the product of a sexual encounter between his mother and a dog.

<...>

Cebull said he showed “very poor judgment” by forwarding the email and said it was “not intended by me in any way to become public.”

He added that he “did not forward it because of the racist nature of it” although he acknowledged it was racist.

“The only reason I can explain it to you is I am not a fan of our president, but this goes beyond not being a fan,” Cebull explained to the newspaper. “I didn’t send it as racist, although that’s what it is. I sent it out because it’s anti-Obama.”

This asshole evidently is longing for the days when he could cover his face with a sheet.

I think the fucker needs to resign. This guy needs some serious public excoriation, and then he needs his ass kicked out the door.

I will say that any person of color who had dealings that ended badly with this shitheel, looking down on them and passing judgment from the bench, might want to see if they can get a new trial. Sounds to me, no matter how this assclown tries to parse it, that he is a racist asshole.

He's got the face of a drinker, too.

And how many Federal Judges has Obama picked that the republicans have blocked or refused to hold hearing on?

but an idiot to boot. Who the hell doesn't know that emails are not private in this day and age? Bet he's one of the judges gleefully giving our privacy rights away too.

And who the heck would find that joke funny no matter who it was about? That joke is about degrading women as much as it is about degrading Obama. Anyone who thinks it is funny has serious issues that need to be dealt with by a professional.

Cebull sent the email to seven friends, prefacing it with:

If the republican party had any dignity or class, they would demand his resignation. Unfortunately, the republican party lost all class and dignity a long time ago. This pathetic excuse for a judge should be ashamed of himself and should step down. He has no right sitting in judgment of anything that comes before him. He is a classic example of just what is wrong with the republicans today and by the way, where is the media on this?

Seriously, if he can't see how it's wrong to do this, despite his personal prejudices, he's basically demonstrating he doesn't know how to be objective--a pretty basic requirement for the job.

I suppose we are now to believe that someone can be a closeted bigot and it doesn't affect/color their public judgment? I don't think so.

I guess one of the very few innner circle people he sent the e-mail to just doesn't see the "I'm not a racist" side of the e-mail.

especially infuriating is that this motherfucker handles a large Indian law caseload and there's enough bias against Indians in the federal courts as it is (most Indian cases are handled by the federal courts because reservations are sovereign entities and, therefore, the tribal members are not subject to state jurisdiction in most instances that happen on reservations, it's considered federal property), especially in the western districts.

I live in Indian Country in the western district and this is especially relevant to many here. Given this shit, there needs to be scrutiny of all Indian cases he's handled since he's been on the federal bench; hell, make that all minority cases (although Indians make up the majority minority in the west). And suspend him in preparation for getting him off the bench. Like yesterday. There are plenty of really good, competent, ethical, caring, nonbiased attorneys who cannot find work right now, so there should be no problem replacing him.

And what a fucking genius. If it "wasn't meant for the public" then he shouldn't have sent him from a GOVERNMENT computer at his GOVERNMENT job that WE THE PUBLIC PAY FOR. Why am I not surprised that he's a Bush appointee?

Saying that the President' birth is the result of a black dog and a women having sex is some kind of
joke that warms his heart is what a certain % of Americans find acceptable and those people are the
ones that the Koch Brothers fund w/ their "organic form the ground up tea party movement."

The sad thing is that he might get booted from the Federal Bench for his actions in forwarding the
email but then he might make even more money going around and speaking to wing nuts and Fox
T.V. that he was the victim of politically correct liberals and some of those fools will buy his crap.

I would just for once call these ass hats on the carpet, bring him up for ethical charges, say he can't be trust to rule fairly of he is an admitted closet racists.

If I were an attorney who had a bad ruling before this guy I would run with an appeal and at the very least, take him away from the bench and also divert his attention so that he would male a mistake...
