Police brass to be indicted over alleged mishandling of LI High School burglary
Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice was expected to indict three top-ranking Nassau County Police Department officers on Thursday stemming from the alleged mishandling of a burglary investigation at Kennedy High School in Bellmore in 2009.
According to published reports, Zachary Parker, now 20 years old, is alleged to have stolen audiovisual equipment ranging from $3,000 to $8,000 from Kennedy, where he was a student three years ago. But Parker was never arrested and charged by police. His family, according to those reports, had deep police ties. His father reportedly fundraises for the department.
According to reports, Parker has since been indicted and charged with third-degree burglary by the district attorney following a grand jury investigation.

The charges apparently stem from the Departments handling of a 2009 burglary investigation at Kennedy High School in Bellmore.
A student at the school, Zachary Parker, was charged with stealing $3,000 in computers in 2009. Parkers father, Gary Parker, was involved with the Nassau Police Department Foundation.
The Long Island Press, which sparked the investigation with an article, reports that it is alleged police officials involved in the case were pressured to not make an arrest. The specific charges in the indictment, however, will not unsealed until Thursday.
