pandering to rubes. Rick probably didn't have much to look forward to as a normal middle-class guy. But, with a change in politics and a willingness to carry water for the 1%er's, doors opened up and millions made their way into his bank account. All one needs to do, to personally profit at the expense of the greater good, is to leave their conscience at the door.

is simply a side benefit of selling out the bottom 95%. It probably helps to justify the economic sellout he's helped to engineer, thinking he's doing God's work as he profits from the pain the rest of us are experiencing.
