Activists question legality of US drone operations



Human rights groups and international lawyers are calling for the Obama administration to explain the legal basis for expanding the US drone programs, and reveal the number of civilian deaths caused by drone strikes.

TONY JONES, PRESENTER: Here is part two of our special report on unmanned drone aircraft as weapons of war.

There are growing calls from human rights groups and international lawyers for the Obama administration to explain the legal basis for its expanding drone program and reveal the number of civilian deaths caused by drone strikes.

A leading Australian international human rights lawyer has also called for Canberra to disclose the role Australian Special Forces are playing in the controversial program of targeted killings.
