Limbaugh Doubles Down On Sexist Attack Against Sandra Fluke, Demands She Post Sex Tapes OnlineYesterday, as ThinkProgress noted, conservative shock jock and strident women-basher Rush Limbaugh called Sandra Fluke, the Georgetown student who House Republicans wouldnt let testify at a contraception hearing last week, a slut and a prostitute. Shes having so much sex she cant afford the contraception, Limbaugh said.
The remarks drew widespread condemnation, with House Democratic Leader Nancy Polosi (D-CA), demanding that Republican leaders in the House to condemn these vicious attacks on Ms. Fluke.
But on his radio show today, Limbaugh showed no remorse and instead reveled in the attention. Referring to Fluke, Limbaugh demanded that women post sex tapes online if they use insurance-covered birth control:
LIMBAUGH: So Miss Fluke, and the rest of you Feminazis, heres the deal. If we are going to pay for your contraceptives, and thus pay for you to have sex. We want something for it. We want you post the videos online so we can all watch.

Hey Rush, we're all having great sex 10 times a day! Eat your heart out pig man.

(27,461 posts)forget about Rush, he likes the attention, the congressional GOP should be pressured to rebuke these comments, Fluke was a witness appearing at a House hearing.

no Republican has the cajones to dare criticize Limbaugh. He gets away with far too much.

(8,200 posts)Don't even think of trying to defend these assholes. My brother was a high ranking officer and I never met anyone of his fellow officers that weren't right wing fanatics.
MADem
(135,425 posts)Blatantly untrue. You shouldn't say such things, they say more about you and/or your brother than they do about anyone else. They are also a direct slap in the face to those of us who served and who are Democrats.
Just because your brother had shitty friends doesn't mean that the rest of us do.
Ask Joe Sestak if he's a wingnut. How about former Senator and Presidential Candidate George McGovern--did he look like a "right wing fanatic" to you--or anyone? How about Bob Kerrey, coming back into the fray with his Medal of Honor and half a leg? Wing nut to you? How about Rick Shinseki who was appointed by Barack Obama to run the VA--he was only the Chief of Staff of the entire Army, on the JCS...is he a wingnut?
Check Congress--you go and total up the number of Democrats who served, and the number of Republicans--then get back to me.
Here's a list to get you started: http://www.awolbush.com/whoserved.html
AFRTVS is geared towards the enlisted personnel, not the officers. It's for people who stand watch, who work shifts, who need something to keep them alert and awake.
It's also populated with what they can get--it's a "bottom line" enterprise. The cheapest stuff is what fills the airwaves, and the wingnuts have an interest in "seeding" so they offer their drek cheap. Some companies (for example, GE, that is married up with NBC) are heavy into the defense contracting game, so they play a "one hand washes the other" situation and will let their shows go at a discount, too.
It's why you're not going to see anything in the way of first-run HBO/Showtime offerings on the TV stations--they cost too much.

(135,425 posts)A good officer--that is to say, one who is sufficiently successful as to make a career of it--does well to STFU about his or her political affiliations. We serve our Commander in Chief, be he (and maybe one day, she) a Democrat, a Republican, an Independent or a Socialist.
Our job is not to endorse politicians, it is to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.
When you make ignorant and broad-brushed comments like you have just done, you insult those of us who served. Don't make your brother and his idiot friends the paradigm--they aren't.
AFN broadcasts material that is given to them free or low-cost. They cover a broad spectrum of tastes, because they are trying to give servicemembers a variety of offerings--not just those that "certain people" might like.
The same people who authorize rebroadcasts of "Car Talk" or "NPR Reports" or "A Prarie Home Companion" or "Ed Shultz" are the ones who authorize Limpdick. They're the same ones who put "Hardball" on most TV outlets overseas, too.

(8,200 posts)The situation was so flagrant at the Air Force Academy that Secretary appointed a committee to investigate. They were pushing a extreme right wing agenda in which any cadets who didn't agree were being ostracised. I am a vet and member of VFW and have two close relatives that were also officers.
Just get over the fact that only 9% of officers are Democrats. There was another study that revealed it was a factor in that the high attrition rate for young officers.

(135,425 posts)You have a right to your own views--no matter how rightwing they might be--but you have no right to declare bullshit "facts."
You also might try getting into "this" decade and not try to sell us information that was published during Bush's first term.
Your credibility is not enhanced.
Get over that, if you can.

(155 posts)You're right, newspeak, Limbaugh's misogynistic banter provokes and vindicates rape in the military.
"Women in the military are more likely to be raped by American soldiers than to be killed in combat, according to statistics released by the Pentagon. In 2010, approximately 19,000 sexual assaults are estimated to have occurred in the military, although only 13.5 percent were actually reported. And the problem begins for some service members when they are still cadets: A new DOD report shows nearly a 60 percent increase in reported sexual assaults at schools like West Point and the U.S. Naval Academy in 2011."
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/12/29/military-rape-sexual-assault-department-of-defense_n_1174736.html
Not that it should because of human decency and personal responsibility, but Limbaugh's influential stature to youthful enlistees shouldn't be marginalized, either.

(155 posts)Military rape is a huge problem. Limbaugh's misogynist tirades against women undermines military discipline and esprit de corps by influencing young men to view women in the military as sex objects instead of their fellow unit members.

(82,849 posts)Because I'm pretty sure there will be the schoolmarms admonishing us to "be nice" and "speak no ill of the dead" when Limbaugh dies. The fact of the matter is that Limbaugh makes a whole lot of money to say these things, and he revels in the controversy and ill feelings he stirs up, because it means he makes even more money. His fans cheer him on, and in their own sick way perhaps even love him for it.
Don't look for any fake piety or ersatz mourning from me when death comes for this loathesome parasite, as it does for everyone. I'm not going to get all John Donne, either, because the subtraction of this miserable person from the land of the living will not in any meaningful way diminish humanity.
