Virginia's forced, unnecessary ultrasound is going to McDonnell for signature

What next? I can only imagine...

1. Woman must hold adorable baby clothes for one hour each day prior to the abortion.
2. Woman must name the the fertilized egg, zygote, embryo, or fetus.
3. Woman must write letter to the aforementioned apologizing for murdering it.
4. Woman must wear a scarlet "A" on chest for six months post-abortion.
5. Woman must view videos of Gerber ads interposed with right-wingers shaming her.

By the way, the ultrasound can be skipped if the woman is a victim of rape or incest, but only if she's reported it to the police. (Because that ALWAYS happens.)

Especially a request for a stay against enforcement. Tie the damned thing up in court for ages.

This is invasion of privacy, and the government cannot mandate forcible state-sanctioned rape.

McDumbass is finished. Virginia will return to being blue.

Now it's just an outside ultrasound, I believe. But still, there is no medical reason for it.

Odd that the same people who think this should be covered don't think birth control should be.

corps, products, and tourism wouldn't hurt either, and believe me, it hurts my heart to say this because I was born, raised, and recently returned to Virginia. I love my state, but the republicans are ruining it, and the only thing they pay any attention to is the bottom line.

and remember there was a lot of resentment of the southern part of the state...

Now I'm in Maryland, where the legislation going to the governor today is at the opposite end of the spectrum (legalizing same-sex marriage). What a difference a few miles makes!

I recently posted an essay responding to Gov. McDonnell's recent interview with the National Review. In short, his uninformed perspective on the women's health legislation is truly what the "kerfuffle" is all about.
