Something we ALL need to realize.. Nothing is EVER "settled law".
At least nothing is ever "settled" as long as there is a republican around to UNsettle it, at every opportunity.
Basically, we are rocks, and they are the steady drip drip drip of water. they never , ever stop trying to undo things that have been "done" in the past (or present).
Too many democrats (I am guilty of this too often too) breathe a sigh of relief when good legislation gets passed, and then we move on to the "next" thing in our long laundry-list of things we need to /want to do.
Republicans are bullies. They always want things THEIR way or NO way. Every time they lose , they only consider it a temporary setback, and they have always been willing to plod along as long as it takes.
There are a ton of frivolous lawsuits always in the works, as every law they do not like gets challenged. These are not filed to do anything more than hopefully end up in the SCOTUS, where the right-leaning court will "see things their way".
Politics is a blood-sport to them, and "winning" is all they want, even if it means that the people who send them there, lose.

The one who will leave soonest is Ginsberg, and we will NEVER get one even close to her "liberal-ness"..
We'll be forced again into a "moderately" right-leaning dem to replace her....
