I will no longer purchase products from your company. Through your sponsorship of Rush Limbaugh you are supporting his degrading and disrespectful comments towards women. If in the future, you should choose to remove your sponsorship, I will once again purchase from your company. Today he he referred to a woman who testified before congress as a slut and that she should post videos of herself having sex on the web if taxpayers paid for Birth control.
HERE IS THE SPONSOR LIST
This is our current list of Rush Limbaugh advertisers as of 01/31/11. We have tried to keep our list updated as sponsors come and go but cannot guarantee the complete accuracy of this list.

(9,900 posts)You advertise on Rush Limbaugh's radio program. This last week he as twice called a woman a slut and prostitute because she was scheduled to testify at a congressional hearing. That was the last straw. I will no longer tolerate those companies that subsidize such outrageous behavior.
It is regretful because the Autozone near my house (The one on Hawthorne Blvd in Hawthorne CA), has always either carried what I need, or has in ready for pick up in one or two days. The price points are fair, but there is more to life then expense and convenience. As long as your company continues to advertise with that hateful blowhard, I will take my business elsewhere. One customer won't make a difference, but I'm not alone.

(14,532 posts)I just called the number and let them know that flowers are the number one gift women recieve for special occasions. For as long as they sponsor of Limbaughs show, I will not be ordering flowers from them. He called a young woman a slut and a prostitute the other day because she testified before congress. Today, he stated that she should post sex videos on the web, if she wants to use BC.

As a woman, as a PERSON, I am disgusted with his statements and views. Therefore, as long as you continue to pay him to state these views, I will neither order from nor recommend your company.

Today I am going after the American Forces radio. This really pisses me off. Women make up 14% of enlisted soldiers and 16% of commissioned officers. By airing limbaugh's show, they are in essence calling their active duty women sluts and prostitutes, who should be making porn for the internet.

(31,706 posts)Firstly...the information about Cheap Channel is out of date...the Mayes are no longer in control of the day-to-day of the corporation. Bob Pitman is the current CEO and it's Bain Capital (surprise, surprise) that control the purse strings of not only the corporation but Premier, the subsidiary that distributes rushbo's bile.
If you want to make real headaches...go local. Listen (if you dare) to the station's local commercial breaks and find out which advertisers are having their ads placed there. Then politely go to that business (in person always gets a lot more respect and positive response over a phone call and 10000 times more than an email) and tell the owner/manager how you'd love to do business with them but not as long as they advertise and support such venom. If the manager is unaware then politely explain how you heard their ad...my bets are most of these advertisers are not aware their spots are running on this bilefest and they'll be on the phone to a very nervous station sales or general manager in a hurry. From one who knows...nothing gets a station manager's attention than a pissed off advertiser...

(1 post)I'm DONE with Rush Limbaugh AND his sponsors!!!
I will NOT buy ANYTHING from his sponsors until they drop him. Rush needs to step into the the modern age instead of pushing 15th century outdated ethics by attempting to push HIS SPECIFIC religion into our government as an attempt to attack women and their personal health choices.
His slanderous words are COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE in calling a woman a slut for simply testifying on the importance of contraception for prevention of serious health issues, as well as family planning...both very personal issues between a man and a woman, and a very personal choice for a woman's right to PROTECT HER OWN BODY.
Here's the news Rush.....
In the United States of America, we're NOT all Catholics, therefore, we should NOT be forced to follow their outdated and unfounded beliefs that contraception is 'evil'. Women NEED contraception for prevention and protection of their own body and health. Taking the pill, or using condoms, does NOT make someone a 'slut ' or a prostitute as what Rush Limbaugh claims.
Let's call a spade a spade here....Rush is attempting to dilute Separation of Church and State, and he is clearly oblivious of what our country stands for...EQUAL LIBERTY AND PROTECTION of ALL AMERICANS...not just white, rich, Christian/Catholic men. (In fact, 20% of the country has no religious affiliation AT ALL, and women outnumber men in our country).
How can Rush Limbaugh blatantly dismiss ALL THE OTHER religious views who ACCEPT CONTRACEPTION and ACCEPT A WOMAN'S RIGHT to choose what is best for her own body in accordance with doctor's advice, and the non-religious AND religious women who NEED contraception to prevent health issues? It's clear that Rush ASSUMES everyone MUST be Christian, specifically Catholic. In other words, he is flat out delusional, and should be REMOVED FROM THE AIR!!!

(2,424 posts)It shouldn't stop with just Rush Limbaugh.
The OneMillionMoms organization is crazy in every way except one. They are smart to use consumer activism in a consumer based economy. With a bad message, it is weak and pitiful (see JCP/Ellen). Put in the hands of a properly representative populist movement, such tactics prove very effective.
Reward companys that align with your philosophy including how they treat their employees. Punish companys that violate your belief system.

(9,090 posts)the stations need the local sponsors to pay overhead and salaries. there is probably a long list of reserve sponsors in waiting - R biz owners who love limbaugh.
also, many of those in your list also sponsor prog radio.
IMO don't punish sponsors that spread to progressive even though it's prob a lot less. prog radio needs all the help they can get as long as they're up against a monopoly.
pressure the stations and pressure the universities ( https://sites.google.com/site/universitiesforrushlimbaugh/ )that endorse limbaugh by broadcasting sports on those stations until they have to offer balance or get out of RW talk.
and boycott ALL sponsors of his radio stations, whether they're on during his show or not.
it's easy and fun to listen to him for a few minutes here and there and get numbers of local sponsors. or smaller national sponsors like Cabot Cheese.

How can you ever support and ADVERTISE on such a digusting, anti-American, UNPATRIOTIC person's radio show. This is not about freedom of speech, this is about a radio personality's blatant falsehoods and repeated racist remarks over the years. Haven't we all heard enough to know that Rush Limbaugh is NOT the voice of mainstream America? His voice is of the extreme and his main goal is to get rich by saying anything that will fuel hate and frustration by pointing the finger at innocents. That is not the America we want to live in.
mercuryblues
(14,532 posts)Rush Limbaugh stated on his February 28, 2012 radio show that a young female law student, Sandra Fluke, is a slut and a prostitute after she testified to congress on birth control issues. Just yesterday he stated that she and all other women who use birth control should now post sex videos on the internet. His words, carried on the AFR, implied that every woman who uses birth control is a slut and a prostitute who should be making and posting pornographic material on the internet. (Of course, he did not use the word women, he used his favorite term for women, feminazi."
For the AFR to continue to air his show is essentially agreeing with him. Is this the message you want the women in service to our country to hear?
These types of comments are not a onetime thing with Limbaugh, he has a long history of displaying disrespect and abuse towards women. On the ass-ets of a sports reporter: She knows she has ass-ets.
Boob-alicious, booty-licious, whatever you want to call it, shes got it.
Another time: "Some of these babes, I'm telling you, like the sexual harassment crowd. They're out there protesting what they actually wish would happen to them sometimes."
He has referred to Hillary Clinton as the Sextatary of State.
So I ask you, is my daughter a slut," prostitute, or boob- alicious? Just as important, is YOUR daughter also one? Allowing his show to continue to run on AFR is telling women everywhere you approve of how Limbaugh speaks about women.
Is this the message you want to send to 14 16% of your active duty personnel? That you agree with Limbaugh and they are mere sluts? Is this the message that you want to send to the men in the military? Women are nothing more than prostitutes for their amusement. I would hope not. If you continue to air his program that is exactly what the message you are approving of.

(1,214 posts)I received this email from a representative of Carbonite a short while ago:
"Over the past two days we have received a tremendous amount of feedback on Rush Limbaughs recent comments. I too am offended and very concerned about his comments. Limbaughs remarks have us rethinking our future use of talk radio.
We use more than 40 talk show hosts to help get the Carbonite message out to the public. The nature of talk radio is that from time to time listeners are offended by a host and ask that we pull our advertising. This goes for conservatives like Limbaugh and progressives like Stephanie Miller and Ed Shultz. We even get customers who demand that we pull the plug on NPR. As an advertiser, we do not have control over a shows editorial content or what they say on air. Carbonite does not endorse the opinions of the shows or their hosts.
However, the outcry over Limbaugh is the worst weve ever seen. I have scheduled a face-to-face meeting next week with Limbaugh during which I will impress upon him that his comments were offensive to many of our customers and employees alike."

I'd appreciate a response. If you continue to support Mr. Limbaugh with your advertising dollars I will feel compelled to point out your association with his more controversial comments on a local level. His comments are unacceptable as is your continuing association with him. Free speech doesn't come without responsibility for that speech.
Again, I would appreciate a response.

A lot of women like to order flowers for special times.
EVERY accurately-informed woman, and every man who has ever loved any woman, is offended by the way Rush Limbaugh slandered the woman from Georgetown who testified about ovarian cancer being treated by birth control pills.
He called her a "slut" and a "prostitute." Why do you sponsor this man? Do you think any woman who testifies before Congress should be called a "slut"?
Please drop your sponsorship, and do so very publicly. His audience is 72% male -- you can reach that demographic elsewhere. Don't sponsor this woman-hater. I can't order from you if you are going to use my dollars to support misogyny.

13) Now, what does that make her? She wants us to buy her sex.
14) to pay for these co-eds to have sex
15) she and her co-ed classmates are having sex nearly three times a day for three years straight, apparently these deadbeat boyfriends or random hookups that these babes are encountering here, having sex with nearly three times a day
16) Therefore we are paying her to have sex. Therefore we are paying her for having sex.
17) Have you ever heard of not having sex so often?
18) Ms. Fluke and the rest of you feminazis, here's the deal: If we are going to pay for your contraceptives and thus pay for you to have sex, we want something for it. And I'll tell you what it is. We want you to post the videos online so we can all watch.
19) we want something in return, Ms. Fluke: And that would be the videos of all this sex posted online so we can see what we are getting for our money.
20) 'If we're paying for this, it makes these women sluts, prostitutes.' And what else could it be?
21) essentially says that she must be paid to have sex. What does that make her? It makes her a slut, right?
22) I'm having sex so damn much, I'm going broke.
23) She's having so much sex that she's going broke! There's no question about her virtue.
24) having so much sex she's going broke at Georgetown Law.
25) Here's a woman exercising no self-control. The fact that she wants to have repeated, never-ending, as often as she wants it sex -- given.
26) She's having so much sex it's amazing she can still walk, but she made it up there.
27) Maybe they're sex addicts.
28) to pay for her to have sex all the time.
29) she wants the rest of us to pay for her sex.
30) She wants all the sex that she wants all the time paid for by the rest of us.
31) Here this babe goes before Congress and wants thousands of dollars to pay for her sex.
32) a woman who is happily presenting herself as an immoral, baseless, no-purpose-to-her-life woman.
33) She wants all the sex in the world, whenever she wants it, all the time.
34) If this woman wants to have sex ten times a day for three years, fine and dandy.
35) to provide women from Georgetown Law unlimited, no-consequences sex.
36) so she can have unlimited, no-consequences sex.
37) You want to have all the sex you want all day long, no consequences, no responsibility for your behavior
38) The woman wants unlimited, no-responsibility, no-consequences sex, and she wants it with contraceptives paid for by us.
March 2, 2012:
39) "she's having so much sex, she can't afford her birth control pills anymore.
40) she's having so much sex, she can't pay for it -- and we should.
41) She's having so much sex, she can't afford it.
42) this, frankly hilarious claim that she's having so much sex (and her buddies with her) that she can't afford it.
43) And not one person says, 'Well, did you ever think about maybe backing off the amount of sex that you have?'
44) Does she have more boyfriends? Ha! They're lined up around the block.
45) "It was Sandra Fluke who said that she was having so much sex, she can't afford it.
46) By her own admission, in her own words, Sandra Fluke is having so much sex that she can't afford it.
47) they're having a lot of sex for which they need a lot of contraception.
48) Her sex life is active and she's having sex so frequently that she can't afford all the birth control pills that she needs.
49) who admits to having so much sex that she can't afford it anymore.
50) she's having so much sex, she can't pay for it.
51) As frequently as she has sex and to not be pregnant, she's obviously succeeding in contraception.
52) Ms. Fluke, asserts her right to free contraceptive, to handle her sex life -- and it's, by her own admission, quite active.
UPDATE: added thanks to your comments,
53) "Ms. Fluke, who bought your condoms in junior high? Who bought your condoms in the sixth grade, or your contraception?"

(1 post)Sorry for being so late to this thread, this is a shameless (though relevant) plug for the browser extension, ThinkContext. It inserts progressive information (including data from stoprush.net) into your web browsing. As far as Rush goes, at the moment it inserts an icon next to Google search results for Rush sponsors. The idea is as you go on about your normal everyday web browsing, the extension lets you know when one of the companies you encounter advertises on Rush.
Other features include letting you know about green businesses and unionized hotels in similar ways, as well as mainstream news articles linked to from progressive blogs.
Hope this sounds interesting, you can check it out at http://www.thinkcontext.org/
