As a public health pro, here's my proposed solution to gun violence
Since senseless gun-involved killings continue apace in this country and the NRA continues to defy reality by blocking sensible gun control legislation, maybe we can convince them to partner with the American Public Health Association to launch a suicide promotion campaign for nuts-with-guns. Tag line:
If you're angry enough
to shoot someone,
start with
YOURSELF.
I now have this message in the back window of my pick-up truck and (so far) I've gotten nothing but thumbs-up for it. HOWEVER, I have put the sign up behind the passenger side. After all, I'm sarcastic (and fed-up), but I'm not suicidal.
This is prompted not only by the Navy Yard mass shooting but by the murder-suicide that occurred last week not two miles from my isolated farm when a husband shot his wife in the back (five times) and then turned the gun on himself. All in front of their three children, the youngest of them age 5.
