I worry that many might stupidly figure that "well, if the National Parks were run by private organizations, then a government shutdown wouldn't affect them!"
Or, "gee, if only private entities were in charge of blood donations, this wouldn't be an issue" etc ad nauseum.
Any liklihood that this will be the (intended?) outcome?

(23,765 posts)when Washington State voted to privatize the liquor sales last year, all these dumb fuckers thought the cost would go way down...nope, it went way up, dumb assholes. Privatizing is NEVER the answer.

(33,198 posts)The thing about the money hoaders who could afford such a trip... They like their money more than such a trip.
I will also point out the Russian equipment they propose using was decidedly NOT developed with private sector capital.
Certainly not the best example but the idea that government does everything better than private industry is still crazy talk.
There are certainly some tasks that government is well suited to handle and handles well the idea that privatization is never the answer though is delusional.

Heebie-Jeebies as well.
Unfortunately, there are so many deluded souls in this Country who have been brainwashed from an early age to entertain that this is even an ethical and cost effective solution.
I'm totally flabbergasted that private prisons are allowed to exist in the US, so, I can't simply offhand say that every institution isn't up for grabs.
