seems as soon as they (GOP) do or say something stupid, the Dems/WH are all over it.

(28,581 posts)I have some friends, they live in red states and are not all that well educated, especially on things like this. They are honestly scared about all the lies that are being said about things like death panels and medicare losing money to obamacare. It's all bullshit, but until they are informed otherwise, these low information voters are easily misled by FB posts and radio with people that have important sounding names and titles. I am not talking about racists or teabaggers, just talking about ignorance being prayed upon by propagandists.
It really needs to be hammered home- blanket the airwaves to reach people who don't pay that much attention to the news. Commercials in prime time and daytime. Saying "his is what the laws does and this is what the law does not do."

(28,581 posts)Hopefully if they read that they will understand more. I felt sort of bad though, like I was scolding them for not knowing they were being played.
It made me realize though, just how much misinformation is out there being portrayed as scholarly facts.

(10,291 posts)like, "Look I don't need to be a rocket scientist to know what's wrong with government"
and I'm all like, "but you need to be able to discern fact from fiction"
I think it spawned from 'ditto-headery'. And now, they're waking up a little bit.
We have to KEEP speaking truth to lies though. It is a never ending, daunting and thankless process.

(34,845 posts)Think about what the GOP is doing. They are demanding OF THE PRESIDENT that he abandon ACA.
ACA is a law and the President does not make or amend laws. Congress does.
So they are, in effect, blackmailing the Senate and even the rest of the GOP House to cooperate with this do-or-die approach.
There is nothing the GOP can gain from this. Nothing.

(10,271 posts)WINNING this game on behalf of the Republic (over the long-term) is now going to take a level of political ruthlessness that hasn't exactly ever been codified into the Dem's Playbook.
NOW is the time to show the American People that we, too, can bloody our claws.
