We are witnessing the death throes of a political party...

From May:

http://www.businessinsider.com/poll-gop-favorability-rating-obama-irs-tea-party-scandals-2013-5

The number of Americans who view the Republican Party unfavorably has hit a record high, according to a new poll released by CNN on Monday, despite scandals that have plagued the White House over the past few weeks.

The poll found that 59 percent of respondents view the GOP unfavorably, a record that has only shown up one other time in the poll's results since tracking began in 1992.

their approval numbers didn't even reach 35% in any of the polls! Surely it would be higher than that, since they easily manage to get at least 45% of people to vote for them in presidential elections, but nope.

even would be rescuers to avoid sinking to a watery grave.

They also say a beast is most dangerous when it's wounded, the Republican Party is definitely wounded, ironically much of it self-inflicted.

I hope you're right but for the moment the GOP controls every inch of my state (MI) and several others.

Just sayin', there's a whole lot of territory outside of Washington and, hard to believe as it is, the GOP still has a stranglehold on too much of it.

Hasn't worked out so well since 2010.

Also keep in mind that due to 2010 and the redistricting factor, the table is tilted in favor of Republicans, so they can be far worse than Democrats and still win enough seats to control the House.

If anything, we are seeing the early symptoms of the disease that is the two-party system.

It may sound good to hear that the Republican Party is dying. But think about it. It doesnt mean those in the Republican Party are dying. And I doubt that they will just crawl under a rock like your fairytale dream. So without a Republican Party where are the conservatives going to go? Since the only choice is the one and only party, the Democratic Party, that's where they will go. And let's be clear, they will bring their asshole ideology with them. Of course some of the nitwits among us will celebrate the new larger single party because it's named Democratic Party. They dont care that it wont have the principles of the old Democratic Party it will be more like the Nixon Republican Party.

We need a vibrant healthy two party system.
