For Thumbs Up support as well as thumbs down.
I'm calling Toomey and Perry every single day. It is very therapeutic.
And Toomey is showing some signs of caving (albeit in the Senate less important to outcomes, he NEEDS to know
where I stand).
Here's what I tell them:
1) Where I stand, clearly and concisely this time: Will you vote for a clean c.r.? for Day One. Every other day: have you
changed your position yet?
2) When they say no:
I re-state that this is irresponsible behavior on their part, and that they are hurting millions of Americans with no gain
for themselves. I then tell them about my various friends and family members pain, and my own impending pain if no
social security check in October.
3) I then give them my 'sermon du jour'.
Yesterday I said that I am very concerned about the destruction of the Republican Party. I tell them I am a lifelong Dem
who bleeds and breathes blue only, but I know we need more than one political party, and so I am very concerned.
I say that I remember the Republican Party of the 60s...different approaches to things, but still, they cared for the average Joe in their own fashion....strong supporters of the upper crust even then, but they also reached out to the average guy, but now their
image is being firmly enshrined as the baby-starving, mysognist, homophobic racist party.
Each day I bring up some new point to grind in.
4) Always, always,ALWAYS I tell them:
a) I vote every election
b) I do voter registrations
c) I go out on election day and drag people to the polls
d) My husband does the same
e) We inform everyone we meet all the time about everything you do (no matter how irritating that is, they still end
up informed).
In other words, I'm gonna get you voted out, sucker.
