Im happy to have negotiations but we cant do it with a gun held to
the head of the American people Theres no winning when federal workers arent getting paid - even if they have to work.

(85,996 posts)When asked why he and the vice president had gone out for lunch, President Obama told reporters, Part of the reason were here is because were starving.
President Obama ordered a turkey and provolone sandwich with mustard. Vice President Biden ordered the 9th Street Italian sandwich, a sub with salami, capicola, prosciutto, and sharp provolone.

(3,911 posts)You only see the part of his secret service detail that's in the pics. Rest assured there are a lot more, probably with sniper rifles.
Certainly POTUS and VPOTUS don't look the least bit scared in those pics.

(135,425 posts)It's always a battle, the tension between safety/security and living in the real world. Obama is a guy who lives in the real world--he's not imperial, like the last four GOP presidents, at all.

(147 posts)Hmmmm..... I wonder how this picture played with Boner. I'm guessing The Orange Bourbon Special (who is next in line for the Presidency) probably spit his cocktail all over the computer screen. Pftfpfptt.....What! If something happened to both of them, I'd actually have to work for a living!!

It's a sketchy prospect.
Like I said, I I hope they're wearing ballistic skivvies--those coats the SS have on look like they have a ballistic quality to them.

This was necessary and I hope he can find the time to do it more often. It shows he is approachable and just trying to do his job like anyone else.
