Health Care Exchange Coverage Doesn't Begin until January.

I know everyone wants to know how much it costs and what it covers, but there's no need to find out today, or this week. Things are all bollixed up on the websites, because everyone just has to go on opening day.

Just like a hit movie, it's hard to get a good seat at the exchange on opening weekend. But, if you wait two or three weeks, there will be plenty of seats available, you won't have to stand in line, and the theater won't be crowded. You can go on opening weekend, if you wish, but you'll probably experience some inconvenience.

Wait a couple of weeks, and the health insurance exchange sites will be a lot easier to use, won't crash from overloading, and you'll still get your insurance coverage effective on January 1, 2014. Everything will work better, too.

Just saying...

up will not take long at all. Right now, it's new, untested, and overloaded. Just give it two weeks to a month, and it'll be just fine, and you can sign up very easily, after looking over the plans and thinking about which is best for you. You'll need your 2012 tax return, so you can enter the income information. It shouldn't take long at all to get hooked up.

Some of the people clogging the system right now aren't even planning to sign up. They're just curious. Since I'm on Medicare, it doesn't apply to me at all. My wife, however, who is eight years from Medicare, stands to save a great deal on her monthly insurance costs, mostly due to the subsidies. We don't make that much money.
