For my 5000th post, I gotta' ask...

... What barricade? From what I've been able to find, she crashed her car and they mowed her down.

The only car I've seen crash a barricade was a cop car and that video was some crazy shit.

Seriously, has anyone seen a picture of the barricade that Miriam Carey supposedly hit? I've looked and I can't find it. Maybe I'm just not looking in the right places.

Her car's front end doesn't appear to have hit any barricades, unlike that cop car which was totaled; and she was nowhere around when that happened.

Videos played on the news repeatedly show her at a quasi gate at the White House. Really more of a bunch of steel posts.

Miriam Carey, 34, of 114 Woodside Green, drove her black Infiniti coupe onto a driveway leading to the White House, and over a set of lowered barricades. When Carey couldn't get through a second barrier, she spun the car in the opposite direction, flipping a Secret Service officer over the hood of the car as she sped away, said B.J. Campbell, a tourist from Portland, Ore.

I'm still not sure she hit any barricades. Her car just looks undamaged to me.

"drove...over a set of lowered barricades'... What does that even mean? If they were lowered?

Oh well. I just wondered what barricades she had actually hit or attempted to breach. I didn't see her hitting those black fence posts in any videos.

What I did see was her driving away from those cops with guns drawn on her and then watched as they shot at the back of her car as she drove away; kinda' like shooting someone in the back as they are attempting to flee.

She didn't have any weapons. Why did they unload their guns on her when she was in a position where she couldn't make a move?

Oh well. Thanks for your reply. I appreciate it.

18. Hi TYY! Many of the barricades are "deployable"; they are below grade until raised.

So, while I wasn't there to see what was happening and I haven't followed the story enough to know all the different places she went, it sounds like she took her car into zones that she shouldn't have.

You know how sloppy news people are about details, they get it right only about half the time!

Since the barricades she had previously crossed were in a lowered position, I wonder if she didn't just make a wrong turn and was trying to get herself turned around when she suddenly found herself surrounded. She then panicked.

The black poles look like permanent impenetrable fixtures (not able to be lowered) next to pretty high curbs. I think they just happen to be in the picture where she is attempting to get herself turned around. I doubt she tried to get through them.

Like you, I wasn't there; which clearly places all of my opinions on this subject into the category of conjecture. My theories have been formed, based on the pictures and videos available to me on the internets.

I suppose more video will surface eventually; still, I can't help but wonder what egregious thing this woman did to earn herself a firing squad.

On a separate note: I'm not sure, but I think I read where the barricade that the cop hit was in a lowered position right before he hit it; that it suddenly raised for some inexplicable reason. Man, if that's true,... what an unfortunate and unexpected turn of events for the cop.

Thanks again NYC_SKP, for the pic and the 'deployable' barricade explanation. I really appreciate your replies.

Had video last night - she was crashed into a barrier - then she backs up - clips it - and I think a police officer.

She then takes off driving and she does that circle in front of the white house - then takes off.

The end of the chase - no Barriers - but in front of the White House - she hit the black barriers they keep up.

Thank you.

My biggest concern was that this woman was unarmed. She also had a baby in her car which, in my mind, mitigates her suggested intent. The fact that the front end of her car is undamaged gives me pause over the barricade allegations.

Lots of people try to run from cops every day. I don't see that as a license to kill the fleeing perp. I'll be curious to see the dash cam video of the "80 mph" chase.

And finally, to chalk this up to her "mental health" is unfair. Her mental health doesn't explain why a group of cops mowed down an unarmed woman with a baby in her car.

Thanks again, to all who replied. I do appreciate your posts.

They could see into her car when they had it surrounded the first time. She never fired a shot at them, yet they fired repeatedly at the back of her car as she drove away... What did she do to deserve THAT hail of bullets?
