Now Is the Time to Call Reid and Obama and Tell Them We've Got Their Back. Please!
Please... call Reid and Obama and tell them you've got their back. We need to let them know we want them to stand strong against this Tea Party Tantrum. Call your own reps and tell them how you feel, no matter what party they belong to. But especially we need to let Dems know we agree with their stance. It's the only way things will ever get better because if they give in to this hostage taking it will only be worse next time.
We all know that the shutdown is the Republican's fault, that Boehner could have easily avoided this if he would stand up to the radical right wing of his party. But he is holding the country hostage in order to appease those that wish to subvert democracy in an attempt to banish a law that was passed by congress, signed into law by POTUS, upheld by SCOTUS and given the stamp of approval by the voters when we reelected Obama over the candidate who ran on repealing ACA.
The GOP is spewing their talking points about how the Dems won't compromise - nevermind
hat the CR is already a compromise and that the Republicans refused to come to the table for the last six months.
The GOP is trying to use their own makeshift line item veto by putting on the table just a few things here and there to try and dupe the American public into thinking they actually care about something and someone.
There has been some giving in on the part of Dems because they actually do care about something and someone.
But... this can't continue on like this. We can't allow piecemeal legislation to keep happening, we need Boehner to put the Senate bill up for a vote. So Dems need to stand strong with their position of not negotiating with a gun to their heads. It's not the Dems keeping the budget from being passed it is solely Boehner doing that.
So please... call, write and email Reid and the White House and express your support for their not negotiating further with Boehner. Tell them we've got their backs and we know it's not them causing the shutdown. Tell them you don't want them to give in to domestic terrorism. Tell them to be even more vocal about how it is Boehner holding this up.
They need to know we approve of what they are doing.
And again, while you're at it call your own representatives, whichever party they belong to, and let them know how you feel as well. We need to help apply the pressure. We need to do this together. Let the Tea Party know that they are a radical minority and that we are mad as hell and we're not going to take it anymore.
