The Rude Pundit: A Tyranny by the Minority, Part 2: The Reign of the Cracker Babies

You remember when there was supposed to be an epidemic of "crack babies"? They were babies whose mothers had smoked crack (or done coke) during pregnancy and would give birth to drug addicted bundles of joy. They were going to grow up to be sociopaths who would wreak havoc on the nation. Yeah, not so much.

However, what we are seeing now is the plague of the cracker babies. These are primarily white people who grew up insulated in communities that had fucked-up beliefs about God, guns, and America, who became resentful of people different than them who might have gotten help from the government, who watched Fox "news" since it started and listened to conservative talk radio before that, who have been pandered to and exploited by opportunists and snake oil salesmen who made them think that their stunted intellectual development is an asset. We are now in the grip of their electoral choices, which even includes some of their own (lookin' at you, Louis Gohmert, you god among cracker babies).

Let's just put it this way: When its new season premiered back in August, more people watched Duck Dynasty, a TV show about crazed, conservative, religious fundamentalists who happen to have gotten rich making a decent duck call, than watched the series finale of Breaking Bad. More people will watch the antics bearded backwoods tree carvers who barely speak anything we might acknowledge as "English" than will ever watch Mad Men, Homeland, or any of those shows that get TV critics all hard and wet.

Is this intellectual elitism? You fucking well bet it is. By pretending that the beliefs of yahoos, crackers, and cousin-fuckers are worthy of consideration in the public sphere, we have degraded the nation to the point that, well, fuck, they have successfully taken over one chamber of Congress by essentially threatening the leadership of the GOP with a banjo-accompanied ass raping while they giggle out their last couple of teeth.

These seeds were sowed back when Ronald Reagan cravenly allowed Jerry Falwell and other charlatans to have a seat at the table of power instead of treating them and their followers as pariahs whose goal was to upend the entire relationship between church and state. As on so many things, Reagan should be dug up and have his bones dressed in rags and paraded about so people can throw tomatoes and eggs at him.

We are a nation held hostage by idiots elected by idiots. While you can say, smugly, "Oh, but that's been true all throughout history," there's a hilarious fuckin' twist this time. These Tea Party fucknuts have no master. It's less Frankenstein's monster being let loose than it is nuclear bombs awaking Godzilla.

See, the teabaggers owe little to nothing to Wall Street or to big business. Oh, no. The pathetic truth about America is that the capitalists, not our pussy media, are the final check and balance to our political system: if they are displeased, they normally can fund the shit out of candidates to oppose those who have not done their bidding. But the anarchists we have now in the House don't give a happy monkey fuck about the backing of banking whores and portfolio pimps. You wanted deregulation, motherfuckers? Here ya go. If we default on the debt, the days of even milquetoast laws like Dodd-Frank will seem like salad days.

But you wanna know how awful the cracker babies are? Two quick examples from their ilk in Congress: Rep. Randy Neugebauer of Texas barked at a park ranger because she was doing her goddamn job, saying she should be "ashamed" for blocking access to the World War II memorial, closed because of Neugebauer. And Rep. Renee Ellmers of North Carolina was asked if she would give up her salary during the shutdown, where millions of government workers are furloughed without pay or working without pay. She said, "I need my paycheck. That's the bottom line."

Somewhere, "God Bless America" is being played by a jug band.

And THIS is who the dumbfucks send to Washington to, you know, clean things up?! Lots of LsTTE in today's paper slamming her. Question is, will they vote for her again? Like with Mark "Appalachian Trail" Sanford, they're quick to forgive and forget.

Literally.

Surely there is something in the Patriot Act with which they could be charged.

Sedition? Conspiracy to interfere with the operations of the U.S.? Treason?

After all, they all took an Oath of Office to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.
Shutting the government down--putting the nation at risk not only economically, but in its
ability to respond to a crisis--ought to qualify as high treason.

In my shoutout thread for Rep McDermott, I was thrilled to see that he is talking about
The Constitution as it is being ignored by these a$$hole$.

There are more non-Teabagger Repubs in the House than Teabaggers, but they've let this minority run the show for fear of maybe, just maybe, having their job status challenged by some Fucking-Ignorant-and-Proud-of-It Teahaddist in the next primary.

The spineless, gutless pieces of crap are more worried about their precious positions than about the country.

Apparently all of this crap is perfectly legal no matter how unethical it is. The only way these guys can lose elections is if they get primaries from the right thanks to gerrymandering so the seats are never going Democratic.

The baggers have effectively ended this country.

They're so scared of getting a challenge that they won't do anything to stop these punks.

I've been in bars where everyone was having a good time and then a biker gang showed up and started bullying everyone and no one would do anything because they were scared to death. They got drinks and refused to pay for them, started touching people's girlfriends, blocked the doors so people couldn't leave and just threatened everybody. This reminds me of that type of situation. If you did or said anything you were going to get fucked up bad. It really sucks to feel that powerless.

headed for collision with either The White House or The Capitol--was to
take out the terrorists and protect the rest of the country.

I have to believe we are going to see that same spirit rise--hopefully sooner
rather than later--and take out these tea party terrorists, hopefully
with legal means (Boehner relents and brings a clean CR to the floor)
or the Attorney General steps up and identifies appropriate charges
to jail these a$$hole$, thereby changing the landscape for how
willing the cowardly tea party types are to put themselves in jeopardy.

Because, when it comes down to it, bullies are cowards. And they
should be treated as such.

I agree with all but one thing- They may not realize it but these baggers are beholden-ed to a very small handful of funders- It is a shame when the government of the people can be completely usurped by a dozen or so wealthy individuals. The system is broken- how we fix it I don't know-but I do know we need to try and better come up with solutions soon or we are sunk for sure

close to what we have going on here. The GOP is using the threat of...if Obama and the dems don't agree to defund one of the legally acquired LAWS that is good for the majority of Americans, which of course is why they don't like it , they will force a government shutdown. Let's handle it.

Sat Oct 5, 2013, 12:34 PM

Politics is merely a symptom of a much greater cultural problem: the dumbing down of America (ask your foreign friends). When we giggled at the celebration of ignorance, when we thought it was a game to watch the train wreck of religious cultists like the Duggars, we gave them a platform from which to spew their fundie whacko message all wrapped up in a "harmless" bow.

And so while we thought everyone was laughing, media, entertainment and advertising thought they had found a new way to make money. A way to capture the "flyover" states that to a coastal liberal are so difficult to understand, a way to suck conservatives of their last pennies. Because make no mistake, sex and violence may sell, but Jesus is a cash cow.

And we, the non-redneck whackos, let it happen, because we thought it was "no big deal" and that people had the right to be dumb. We were afraid of the word "elitist" just as we were afraid of the word "liberal" because people yelled it as some kind of epithet, a sneer. When we stopped applauding education, intelligence and seasoned professionalism, the die was already cast for this catastrophe.

We must shun ignorance and religious fanaticism just as much and as clearly as we shun racism. The cultists need to be made insignificant, just as they were thirty years ago. Religious people need to stand up to evangelical insanity and say, "This is not Christian." Turn off Honey Boo Boo or the Kardashians and show your kids reruns of Cosmos instead. Being a dumbass whose only information comes from Fox or Limbaugh is nothing to be proud of. As we well know, there are actually very few of them. Why on earth are we paying any attention?

And then, maybe then, people might realize it's IMPORTANT to have someone smarter than you governing the country, not some git you'd like to have a beer with. You want to hire the smartest, most passionate civil servants you can. We should have an entire Congress filled with Elizabeth Warrens and Bernie Sanders. A person with the IQ of a flea like Bachmann should be nowhere near our government: she shouldn't have gone past the president of the PTA or her church glee club.

We've tried to make everyone "equal" by tolerating ignorance and insane religious beliefs. Perhaps it comes from an overemphasis on esteem building rather than educating in our schools. People are intrinsically equal, but abilities are not. And I think the smart people need to start making the decisions again.

Sorry for the rant, I'm just sick of this shit.

Imagine where we'd be if MLK, instead of fostering an attitude of mutual respect, went around calling white people "Racist crackers", my lord we'd probably have colonized the mars by now.

Constructive and forward thinking repairing of the national bridges burnt by centuries of racisms, thats for chumps like MLK. Clearly the brave new path forward is divisive name calling.
