I contacted my Teabagger rep's office today to complain about the shutdown. Have you contacted your representative?

(6,452 posts)I'm sure he is simply a party hack, and not a teabagger. Regardless, he can do whatever he wants and there is no leverage to force anything else.
The only way he loses his seat is if a teabagger challenges him, steals his votes, and a D takes it over. He's not gonna piss them off.

(997 posts)Call the office and tell them in no uncertain terms that as a Republican you are sick of him following the crazy and that the Tea Party is hurting the GOP. Butter them up with things like the GOP used to stand for limited government, growing the economy, and for America to be a leader on the world stage but today it just stands for crazy.
Try not to vomit while saying that.

(53,339 posts)And a staffer for my former Rep, House Veterans Affairs Chair Buck McKeon.
McKeon's staffer and I had a brief chat about the shutdown with my Rep's staffer present. We disagreed, of course, but we've been acquainted for a couple of years and it was a pleasant exchange. He's a good guy, but I certainly was not going to change any minds here or influence them or their bosses one iota. My Rep has been whipping his caucus members on all of the CR votes.
