It's about 20-40 teabaggers and the idiotic House leadership who refuses to bring a vote to the floor on a clean CR as to not piss off or alienate those nutjobs.
Boner could bring a clean CR vote to the House floor for a vote. There are enough Dems and sane(?) Repukes who would pass it. The Senate would pass it and it would open the Government back up in a few hours.
But for some insane reason Boner doesn't want to bring a vote and piss off the teabaggers.
Like I said, IT'S NOT ABOUT BOTH FUCKING SIDES!

(5,756 posts)Nightwatcher viewed the MSM? That's rich.
For the first time in a while the MSM is actually reporting on things for a change.
The problem in DC is most certainly the Tea Baggers and the GOP. It is not the President or Dems.

(5,379 posts)I was just trying to be funny. That's what the could have indicated.
I have no idea whether Nightwatcher watched MSM (hence the ?), and how much she or he does so, and neither do I see why I should know her or his habits.
I don't watch MSM, but the two minutes I did flip past MSNBC, they had a banner with "when will they compromise". That could bring me to post an all caps OP title like Nightwatcher
And how you read me laying any kind of blame at the dems or Obama's feet, is a mystery to me.
Good night!

(45,984 posts)The Wall Street Banks -- you know, the ones led by robber barons like Legs Dimon and Pretty Boy Lloyd -- certainly don't want the kind of instability this kind of uncertainty brings. That's not good for their business, especially what's left of their legitimate business.
The fact is that the teahadists aren't even listing to their masters.
On the other hand, I don't know where hardcore corporate fascists like the Koch Brothers come down on this. Those two Birch Society born and bred bastards just might have a different perspective on the matter than sane people. We'll see if they offer their brown shirts bus rides to demonstrations or to meetings where anything constructive might be on the agenda, like they did in 2009. If they are among those trying to tell congressional Republicans to cool it, then it is further evidence that the Tea Party is a Frankenstein's monster that the Kochs created.

(8,396 posts). . . The corporate fascist wing of the party whipped a group comprised of both the misinformed and the willfully uninformed into a frenzy. Now they have a tiger by the tail, which they can neither afford to let go of, nor continue to hang on to. Quite a predicament they've created for themselves, I would say!

(58,362 posts)To be honest I did misread the OP and was thinking of the corporate media promoting the "both sides are doing it" meme, not the Teahadists.

(45,984 posts)Although you now bring up a good point, that the MSM is very careful to bring up both sides of an issue that doesn't really have two sides.
This is why FoxNews is not MSM. When there aren't two side to an issue, Fox still manages to explain the other side and only the other side.

(45,984 posts)Some of those Koch companies are Wall Street firms. Their fortunes are going to go south.
Of course, when one's father is a founding member of the John Birch Society, there's no telling what idiocy little Dave and Charlie had to listen to as they grew up. It's obvious that a lot of it rubbed off.

It says they can make their own rules, but how can their rules defeat the whole purpose?
Hmmm.

(7,549 posts)It's all the Pukes. Unfortunately and this is JMHO, even if there are some pukes that are still sane, and I question that, their monetary greed and their egotistical need for power seems to trump that little bit of sanity they have left every time.
The "so called moderates" keep saying they will side with Democrats if need be but when it comes to actually act they back away. They are a bunch of lousy cowards.

(812 posts)Blood money from the backs of the poor, working multiple part-time,no benefit jobs attempting to put food on their families amidst record corporate profits.
Some of those record profits trickle down through a new branch of lobbyists belonging to a so-called grassroots organization known as the Tea Party.
The GOP is as afraid of this group backed by multi-billionaires as they are greedy for the money that they lavish on their war coffers.
Never forget that they already have the end game in sight, shutting down the government means no oversight of their activities and no one to stand up for the people as they usher in a new century of slavery even as the carpetbaggers snap up cheap real estate and sell worthless pension funds to the government from the derivatives market.
The true face of the redistribution of wealth from the bottom to the top.

(5,963 posts)This above all else has frustrated the hell out of me, because the media is exacerbating the problem, and failing totally to do their job effectively. They are in large part responsible for the dirty tactics we are seeing, because they have convinced the public that this is somehow "business as usual."
