Fox News asks Nicaraguan meteorologist to host ‘Taco Day’ segment: ‘You grew up on tacos’

Fox News host Brian Kilmeade on Friday said he assumed that the network’s Latina meteorologist “grew up on tacos,” even though it is not a traditional food in her native country of Nicaragua.

To celebrate National Taco Day, Fox & Friends asked Fox News Weather team member Maria Molina, who was born in Nicaragua and grew up in South Florida, to host a segment explaining how to make tacos.

“So what are the tips we need to know?” Kilmeade asked Molina. “You grew up on tacos, correct?”

“No, I did not grow up on tacos!” Molina shot back. “I’m Nicaraguan. It’s not a native food.”

It's a balanced meal in a tortilla! All the food groups in one bite!

My Mom embraced her heritage and would cook trad Erin delicacies on St Paddy's day. It was a big deal around the "Hurd" homestead come mid-March.

Take any cuisine, just about any food...it can be made into a burrito. It's the perfect base for any handheld food-truck fusion cuisine.

Corned beef, Swiss cheese, caraway seeds, sauerkraut, mustard-based sauce::Reuben burrito
Chicken tikka masala, lentils, yogurt sauce, paneer::Indian burrito.
Pulled pork, ranch beans, cheddar cheese, fried potatoes, cole slaw::BBQ burrito.
etc.

Burritos are magic.

Hispanos around here usually watch Univision for the news, Telemundo is too right wing. I don't think Pox en Espanol has a prayer outside of Miami.

To say was it mental problems or "something"else about that woman who tried to crash the WH gates. I bet they believe Obama was tracking her. Especially if she had an Obama phone.

I'm still waiting for my phone. Are we going to get them before he leaves office? Maybe Faux has info on that.

Mayor Joseph Maturo insisted he would not resign on Thursday, even while an immigration reform group brought hundreds of tacos to his office in response to his comment this week that he "might have tacos" to support the Latino community.

A swarm of media crews fought for room while more than a dozen stern-faced protesters crowded into town hall carrying aluminum trays of warm tacos....

Some local Hispanics say the mayor's statement shows a lack of understanding and interest in the community.

"It's like he's saying, 'OK, I'll go out and show my face at a Hispanic restaurant,'" Pedro Gutierrez, the owner of the Guti'z bakery said. "He doesn't even know most people are Ecuadoreans here," since tacos are native to Mexico and not part of traditional Ecuadorean cuisine.

Then again, he should avoid Brooklyn, the Bronx, Queens, and pretty much all of Northeastern NJ for a good while after making a dumb ass remark like that. I should know because I've visited those areas a lot and the Hispanic population is huge!
