Fox News asks Nicaraguan meteorologist to host Taco Day segment: You grew up on tacosFox News host Brian Kilmeade on Friday said he assumed that the networks Latina meteorologist grew up on tacos, even though it is not a traditional food in her native country of Nicaragua.
To celebrate National Taco Day, Fox & Friends asked Fox News Weather team member Maria Molina, who was born in Nicaragua and grew up in South Florida, to host a segment explaining how to make tacos.
So what are the tips we need to know? Kilmeade asked Molina. You grew up on tacos, correct?
No, I did not grow up on tacos! Molina shot back. Im Nicaraguan. Its not a native food.

(26,877 posts)It's a balanced meal in a tortilla! All the food groups in one bite!
My Mom embraced her heritage and would cook trad Erin delicacies on St Paddy's day. It was a big deal around the "Hurd" homestead come mid-March.

(20,176 posts)Take any cuisine, just about any food...it can be made into a burrito. It's the perfect base for any handheld food-truck fusion cuisine.
Corned beef, Swiss cheese, caraway seeds, sauerkraut, mustard-based sauce::Reuben burrito
Chicken tikka masala, lentils, yogurt sauce, paneer::Indian burrito.
Pulled pork, ranch beans, cheddar cheese, fried potatoes, cole slaw::BBQ burrito.
etc.
Burritos are magic.

I'm still waiting for my phone. Are we going to get them before he leaves office? Maybe Faux has info on that.

Yes, Ronnie, it's not all like Hollywood portrayals of Mexico. Goodness, even Mexico isn't like Hollywood portrayals of Mexico.

Some local Hispanics say the mayor's statement shows a lack of understanding and interest in the community.
"It's like he's saying, 'OK, I'll go out and show my face at a Hispanic restaurant,'" Pedro Gutierrez, the owner of the Guti'z bakery said. "He doesn't even know most people are Ecuadoreans here," since tacos are native to Mexico and not part of traditional Ecuadorean cuisine.

(3,123 posts)Then again, he should avoid Brooklyn, the Bronx, Queens, and pretty much all of Northeastern NJ for a good while after making a dumb ass remark like that. I should know because I've visited those areas a lot and the Hispanic population is huge!
