Jeez Louise, I hate her logo. It's graphic chaos, and it sure doesn't say "I can take on the good ole boys." It's really tough to picture Ann Richards running with something this whimsical. I'll contribute to the campaign and bug my Texas relatives, but...ouch:

It is different in some ways, but you immediately see her first name and then her last name. The colors catch the eye.
This is different enough to stand out, but not so different that it can't be read. It also keeps the basic rectangle shape. I think it's a very good blend of the tradtional logos and a newer one.
Form follows function. The function is to get people to see her name and increase its recognition.
In addition, you post one statement about Wendy Davis and use it to criticize her her logo???
