Corporations are the devil.

I could elaborate, but I believe this is self-evident. It's like math.

Corporate Interests = Evil

Right now I'm thinking of WalMart because of a travesty involving a WIC mother.

What comes to your mind? Why?

whenever possible, and do my best to boycott anything that funds the Koch brothers (believe me, it ain't easy).

On edit:

I also belong to a credit union, buy recycled from thrift stores, support local mom and pop stores, don't support businesses in red states whenever possible, etc. It's not much, but it's better than nothing.

when I posted that. Stores are clean, well stocked, service is excellent, customers are treated well. Wish we had one here.

Were you pleased with the company? I think I'd prefer working in that environment, but my work experience was all military, so have no firsthand knowledge.

They're competitively priced and stores are just great. And the employees.... you can tell such a difference. They are polite, helpful, knowledgeable and friendly...I always feel that they're glad I'm there.

It was a good place to work. Management employee relations were the same as other employers. Part of the compensation was in stock. Stock could not be sold on the open market, but had to be sold back to the company at a price set by the company. The price was set based on valuations set by an outside accounting firm.

I never had a bad shopping experience at Publix. Sure do wish they'd expand their market into Va. When I moved back here from SC, I actually had Publix employees hug me and tell me they'd miss me! Now that's what I call a great store!

We have a Kroger's, Food Lion, and Walmart. I shop mostly at Kroger's, but the one in my hometown is small. Food Lion and Walmart are in the next town (about 12 miles away). Food Lion is ok, but more expensive, and I detest Walmart. There's a Kroger Superstore about 35 miles from here, but it's worth the trip.

But they do exhibit the Lucifer Effect because of a lack of oversight.

The Corporation
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0379225/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1
Since the late 18th century American legal decision that the business corporation organizational model is legally a person, it has become a dominant economic, political and social force around the globe. This film takes an in-depth psychological examination of the organization model through various case studies. What the study illustrates is that in the its behaviour, this type of "person" typically acts like a dangerously destructive psychopath without conscience. Furthermore, we see the profound threat this psychopath has for our world and our future, but also how the people with courage, intelligence and determination can do to stop it.

If DU is not a non-profit, then they must be a bad corporation. They do not maximize profit for shareholders by any means necessary without regard to morality. That is the imperative of a for-profit corporation.
