Translation of "I would vote for a clean CR"
Regarding the supposed 20+ moderate Republicans who would vote for a clean CR.
They have been misunderstood.
"I would vote for a clean CR" means, if I am sitting there and a clean CR is being voted on I would vote for it.
This means, "If speaker Boehner allows a clean CR to come to a vote I will vote for it."
If Speaker Boenher decides to resolve the crisis by allowing a clean CR vote I will vote for it, rather than revolt against Speaker Boenher's decision to end to crisis that way.
Nowhere in the song of the moderate Republican are most of them saying, "I will defy Speaker Boehner."
