People going hungry, businesses drying up in Florida due to shutdown

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/10/08/government-shutdown-everglades_n_4063682.html

Just some examples from one state!

--

Food bank distributor Feeding South Florida reaches 949,910 hungry residents -- the most of any such agency in the state -- but it's been hit hard by the shutdown: USDA funding accounts for more than one-third of its supply, the Miami Herald reports.

“They sent us an email saying we can’t order anything else. So once we distribute this, that’s it,” Sari Vatske, the distributor’s vice president of programs and initiatives, told the Herald. “We need Publix, Target, Walmart and Winn-Dixie to step up. We’ll need to double efforts on food drives and fundraisers.”

As the federal government shutdown enters Day Eight, the grim reality hits hard in and near Everglades National Park.

Not only may the gridlock jeopardize a critical restoration funding bill, it has dried up business in surrounding communities.

Everglades City Oyster House owner Robert Miller told NBC-2 his business has dried up and he's had to tell employees to stay home.

We are all suffering together till this ends, some a lot more than others. Boehner can end this today, but the Tea Party radicals are holding him hostage. This stinks. As I read in an earlier post, 80 tea party caucus members, representing 14 million people are holding the rest of us hostage. They have the power and many of them hate government. The shutdown is "a dream for a conservative." Fox News contributor Laura Ingraham.

we'll have months of recriminations and some of the MSM blaming both sides.

That has to end! It's the teahadists and GOP enablers.

This shutdown, debt ceiling showdown is really scaring me, for the first time the GOP leaders sound like Limbaugh and the moderates are silenced. I have to assume the center still exists to keep my sanity. With women, minorities, LBGT and unions, I know my side will always be players, but there needs to be a middle on their side too. They will have the house for the foreseeable future. Maybe a leader will come forward like Reagan from California. Would they even support Reagan?

Sorry for the rant, I'm confused as to what is going on with them. It seems like a tea party takeover. They are running the party.
