uber-pricey steaks and seafood by the box to rich folks here in LaLaLand. You know, the $175/5 or 10 lb stuff.

I told her about how the FDA is no longer inspecting imported meats and seafood, and as of the 17th the USDA will have no funds for operating the Food Safety and Inspection Service, which inspects slaughterhouses and packing plants in the US. I said she might want to have a talk with her boss about it if he wasn't aware (she was pretty sure he wasn't).

Our chicken and beef and pork supply is just about to be cut off. Ditto the fish and shellfish. And if you CAN get it, it's going to be UNINSPECTED.

That alone should have supermarkets AND restaurants AND small retailers pissing in their pants.
