I always recall John McCain saying my friend Senator Hillary Clinton, Charles Schumer saying my friend Senator Lugar. Often there seemed to be mutual respect and appreciation for adversaries even after the Bill Clinton impeachment hearings.

I assume the Tea Party guys are too new and too brash to have earned that kind of respect. They shout YOU LIE! during the State of the Union address, they attack members of their own party, refuse to vote for hurricane Sandy funding and shut down the government without an exit strategy....Hell no, I doubt even their pets like them.

9. Once when she was running for re-election, she pounded "death by metro"

The mass transit system here was having a series of really bad malfunctions and she said when her constituents got up in the morning to go to work, they should not have to face "death by metro." I thought it was hilarious because I too had been a victim. Someone made her take the ad down, but I have never forgotten it. She is amazing.
