My girl-friend has never paid much attention to news or politics until recently (I like to think the "until recently" is partially my doing) but the recent shitstorm in Washington has got her attention. She expects to qualify for almost-free Obamacare (still waiting on something from the state, I don't know all the fine details) which will be of immense help to her.
Earlier today, she told me that she wants to register to vote for the first time in her life, and vote for Democrats who will support Obama next year in the midterm.
I hope she follows through.
Now, if I can just get her to get informed on the rest of the issues...

knowledge is power
Being knowledgeable is not just one quality, but is many and a process of learning, experiencing, knowing and understanding. When you have knowledge you understand more easily- and to understand is truly powerful
