A fanatic is one who--

A fanatic is one who, having lost his way, redoubles his efforts. I don't know where that quote came from, but it applies to many situations, like Afghanistan. Or Vietnam, in the day.

I was just thinking that it works for the morass that the Republicans have themselves in.
