The National Parks, a symbol of big, socialist Government.

It is truly ironic that the GOP has chosen the National Parks as their rallying point for this shutdown (how dare Obama keep people from the Parks!)
The Federal Government has claimed massive areas of land and keep them open for all people. They are protected from any private use and are owned by all "The People" and available for their use. It is the liberals who want them kept that way and not exploited for private profit.

And THIS is the symbol the GOP has chosen for their anti-government screed?

Basically, open the gates and let all the off-roaders, hunters, miners, etc, have their way. With no one around to watch things, what do people really think is going to happen? Same with the DC monuments. And who gets sued when some idiot gets injured doing something stupid, like climbing the Washington Monument?
