GOP Lawmaker Says Republicans are Prepared to Lose House
Rep. Phil Gingrey (R-GA) told Roll Call that Republicans were "absolutely" prepared to lose the House to extract concessions from President Obama and he said the White House is "missing the determination of the Republican Party."
Said Gingrey: "I mean, they seem to think that we will miss this opportunity for a 'Braveheart' moment to do the right thing for the American people and that we'll back down for fear of losing the House and not gaining control of the Senate."

(39 posts)Aye, fight and you may lose reelection. Run, and you'll retain your seat... at least a while. And dying in your beds, many years from now, would you be willin' to trade ALL the days, from this day to that, for one chance, just one chance, to come back here and tell the democrats that they may take our lives, but they'll never take... OUR FREEDOM!

He seems to acknowledge that the GOP is willing to simply do what the GOP wants to do, regardless of the views of their own electorate.

(14,104 posts)I've always known the far right wingers are absolutely nuts, but I didn't comprehend that the average Republicans fear of them exceeded their fear of collapsing the entire economy. This is a very dangerous situation. We seem to be sitting at the culmination of Christian Dominionist end-times prophecies and Koch brothers desire to bring down the government. This is very scary.
